Author:

2020Abstract:
Diversity initiatives have been on the frontline for management teams in recent years due to the expeditious change in the accounting industry. Diversity demands have stemmed from legislative compliance, professional interests and social justice claims that diversity is the right thing to do. Previous studies concluded that the labor force would see a drastic change in the types of new entrants at the turn of the millennium. The scope of this report is to provide an understanding of the representation of women and visible minorities in accounting, the consequences of initiatives taken in the business world and to interpret the challenges that women, companies and their counterparts encounter on a daily basis, and that when combined together impedes career progression.
