An Examination of the Communication Role in the Legalization of Cannabis in Canada

Abstract: 
Cannabis was legalized on October 17, 2018 and the Canadian governments (including federal and provincial), and licensed producers of cannabis are challenged with the task to appropriately engage the citizens of Canada in learning and understanding the laws, as well as the availability of cannabis. Through examining the current communication campaigns by the federal government, Ontario provincial government and licensed producers compared to an online survey produced by the author, this paper reveals the current state of communication about cannabis in Canada.
