Abstract:
In today’s society, being diverse and inclusive within an organization is not an option; it is essential. The importance of diversity in public relations is seen as a vital tool when building relationships with different communities. Public relations is a field of storytelling and communicating stories with each other most effectively. Understanding that different communities can experience barriers and systemic challenges is important when representing that group. The paper examines barriers and difficulties racialized minority groups face and identify if these barriers still impact minorities in today’s society. This paper uses both primary and secondary research to explain how these obstacles can be used to educate the public and change the workplace perceptions. The results of this study suggest that there are specific barriers that racialized minority groups encounter within their career and how these barriers can impact their opportunities and overall experiences within the industry.
