While new construction was continually going on at the North Campus since 1968, Humber was forced in 1979 to demolish a 100-year-old farmhouse on its campus grounds. There was one hope to save the historic building by utilizing it as a detox centre, but Etobicoke General Hospital withdrew its offer, when restoration estimates proved the project to be too costly.
